Army Restaurant is located in the famous Esplanade Mansion, which is India’s first cast iron building. This Irani café and restaurant owes its name to the soldiers who would frequent it from the docks. This restaurant has been around for several decades and lived through Bombay’s transition to Mumbai.
The food choices offered here are simple with no delicacies or specialties. Avoid visiting at noon, because Army Restaurant gets crowded with lawyers from the neighbouring high court, who are looking for a quick meal.
The humbly priced kheema-pav and bun-maska are a sure bet and probably the most ordered dishes on the menu.
