.jpg) Mumbai is the city of dreams, for those who are lucky to have been born here, and for them, who gave destiny a determined nudge to pave their way to find enough ground in amchi Mumbai!
In Mumbai, everything moves at rocket speed. Men and women alike are constantly on the move, seldom stopping to take a breath or two to revive themselves from the hardships of their mundane routine.
The much coveted promenade at Carter Road, Bandra (West) offers a welcome break from the day’s monotony. It is flanked regularly by people from all walks of life and from different age groups. Irrespective of what they do all day long, they unite on this stretch, often recognizing regular visitors, sometimes acknowledged by a nod and a bright smile. The promenade is the result of the combined initiative of the residents of the area. It was renovated in 2009 and extended up to Khar Danda. At one end of it lies the Otter’s club, renowned for its distinguished list of members. Whereas the other end which flaunts an entire stretch of restaurants, is a regular hangout for college students and young working professionals. The list includes places like Crepe Station, Mezbaan, Global Village, Subway, Barista, Café Coffee Day, Gelato Italiano, Yogurtbay and many more delectable hangouts. The area is often filled with several foreigners who enjoy the multi- cultural cuisine the place offers. The carter road promenade with its amphitheatre is witness to an entertaining event, which is more often than not, a promotional event, every Friday evening. Mornings are usually filled with serious morning walkers, whereas, the evenings see a plethora of people, both young and old, either enjoying the effervescent breeze or coyly on a lookout for shady corners, to cuddle and cosy up in.
A striking view that features every new morning on the promenade is the daily ritual of a handful of philanthropic middle aged women, teaching slum kids and then offering them eatables. This serves a dual purpose of sending them home happy and satisfied along with enough temptation to make them return every day.
Carter Road offers a number of reasons for people to return to it again and again. The cool breeze, the spectacular sea view, the eateries, the lush green palms that line the promenade are all reason enough for a repeat visit.
